As the Local Transport Authority, Cumbria County Council recognises the importance of a transport system and highway network in Cumbria that is safe, reliable, available, accessible and affordable. A key element in delivering this vision is encouraging and facilitating greater use of sustainable travel options, rather than the car, by both residents and visitors.
In seeking to achieve this we work alongside partners to support sustainable travel schemes and initiatives throughout Cumbria. To date we have supported a number of programmes including;
