The role of the Infrastructure Planning Team at Cumbria County Council is to undertake activities that support delivery of the Council Plan, in particular the priority to:

'Provide a safe and well managed highway network, secure infrastructure improvements and support local economic growth.'

In supporting this priority the Infrastructure Planning Team undertakes a diverse range of work to promote economic growth, identify infrastructure improvements and to secure the support and funding necessary to develop and deliver these.

To achieve this we actively engage with partners to ensure the economic potential and infrastructure priorities for Cumbria are recognised and acted upon.

Key areas of work undertaken by the Infrastructure Planning Team include:

  • Local Plans

  • Nationally Significant and Major Projects

  • Strategic Plans

  • Sustainable Travel

  • Transport Planning
