All products supplied to consumers must be safe, whether new or second hand.  This includes products supplied in the course of a service, installation or during maintenance.  Some products are subject to specific safety regulations such as toys, cosmetic products and electrical equipment.

Trading Standards enforces product safety related legislation by carrying out routine inspections and test purchasing exercises to ensure that goods placed on the market are safe.  If you are a manufacturer, importer or distributor of consumer goods we can provide advice and guidance to help you comply with the law.
