At Eskdale House, we offer a comfortable and safe environment in our purpose built home. Eskdale House provides 24 hour residential care for the physically frail and dementia. The home is staffed by experienced and qualified people who understand the complex care needs of residents living with dementia. We have three rooms that provide en-suite facilities. We also have three lounges on the ground floor and quiet spaces for residents and families to enjoy throughout the home, along with two gardens. We have our own hairdressing salon and enjoy the services of a hairdresser every week.
Our philosophy at Eskdale House is to "live life be free" and we are aware of the many benefits to activities both physically and emotionally. Some of the activities that we make available to our residents include:
- in-house activity sessions, with an objective to promote health and wellbeing
- dominos, card games and craft sessions
- hairdresser visits weekly
- Bi-yearly coffee mornings
- armchair exercises with Kiddley Divey every second month this year primary school children will be participating for reminiscence
- regular entertainers and music
- visits to Gretna on the bus
- visits to the cinema in Carlisle
Here at Eskdale House we have a dedicated team of staff to help our residents every need. From the support workers to the to the kitchen staff, everyone who supports the running of the home is passionate about what they do and the important role we all they have to play in making Eskdale House Good. From our carers to cooks, staff in our home are here to deliver high quality care and services to those we support.

Our cooks have many years of experience catering for the elderly and service users with dementia. They strive to make sure that each service user has a say in what appears on the menu and that our food is cooked in a traditional homely manner. Our cooks have qualifications in nutrition, so catering for specialist diets is no problem. They also love baking, so there are cakes available daily for those service users who fancy a treat. We also arrange takeaway nights for our residents where we order in food like fish and chips, Chinese, Indian or Pizza. We let families know so that they can join us for the takeaway.
