As of 24 April 2022, we have a protocol in place for young adults who are care experienced. The purpose of the protocol is to ensure that:
- care experienced young adults across Cumbria get a consistent service
- there is joint working between all relevant services and that this starts at an early stage so there is a smooth transition
- as far as possible care experienced young adults are supported to make planned moves into accommodation so they do not need to access the safety net offered through an emergency housing route
- when care experienced young adults are homeless or threatened with homelessness, we have a clear understanding of what support can be offered and by who
