The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the ways in which the communities and businesses in Cumbria can participate in preparing or reviewing Local Development Plan documents and in the consideration of planning applications for which the County Council makes the decision.

A review of the SCI that was adopted in 2006, began in 2014 but was put on hold while the County Council's Constitution was reviewed and updated. In 2016 an Addendum Report to the SCI was prepared for the examination of the Cumbria Minerals and Waste Local Plan. The Addendum was consulted upon from March to May 2017. No comments were received, but minor amendments have been made to reflect further changes to the County Council's Constitution. The final SCI is available to view/download below:

A formal consultation on the draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) took place from May to July 2005. The SCI was amended to take account of the representations that were made and was confirmed as being sound by the Planning Inspectorate on behalf of the Secretary of State on the 23rd December 2005.  It was adopted by Cumbria County Council on the 19th January 2006. The then adopted SCI and key documents associated with its production are available to view/download below.
