Frequently Asked Questions

I cannot find the timetable I want ?

Go to the timetable page for the whole county and enter the name of the town or village you want details for into the search box, and that will give you a list of timetables for that area.  Help with finding a bus timetable (PDF 1.5MB)

I still cannot find a timetable for the journey I want to make ?

There may not be a direct bus for the journey, and you will need to change buses, take a train, or walk part of the way.  Try the traveline Journey Planner (see notes below) which will give suggested travel options or call traveline 0871 200 22 33 (calls cost 12p per minute plus your 'phone company access charge).  If you do not need immediate information, email public.transport@cumberland.gov.uk and we will offer advice.

I need to plan a difficult journey ?

Go to the Journey Planner;  Enter points you wish to travel to / from (it will take post codes if you have them).  There are also "More Options" for whether you want an arrival or departure time; whether you want to use any mode or just buses; and even walking speeds.   How to use the online Journey Planner (PDF 924KB)

Can I get information for when my bus will arrive ?

Details of how Stagecoach bus are running, and will arrive at your stop, an be found on their website.

Where's my bus? web page.   How to get real time information (PDF 2MB)

Where do I find information about fares?

Sample fares.

The Stagecoach website has far more information on their services

There is no end date on the timetable, and it started some time ago?

Unlike rail timetables that run for fixed periods, bus timetables can stay the same for many years - or change every few weeks.

Operators normally have to give 6 weeks notice of changes and tell the County Council. Once we know a timetable is changing we put details on our Bus News web page.

I have my own website and want to add a link to a timetable?

The links to timetables now follow a set pattern of https://legacy.cumberland.gov.uk/buses then "/" followed by the service number - for example  https://legacy.cumberland.gov.uk/buses/555/

The timetables on these pages should always be the one currently operating and will be updated as services change.

When we have news on any forthcoming service changes, or other information, it is added at the top of the page.

If you put a link from your website to the timetable page for a service, the timetable will automatically update when services change, and you will still be showing the current timetable, plus news of forthcoming changes.

There are a small number of routes where the same service number is used in two places. So we have had to add a letter after the number

If you can't find what you need email public.transport@cumberland.gov.uk and we will try to help.
