The Lake District Coast is Cumbria's hidden coast. Behind the grandeur of Scafell Pike, beyond the expanse of Windermere and the sweep of Langdale Pikes lies a stunning and unexplored coastline. It's also an ancient coast studded with Roman remains, historic harbours, castles and ancient industrial workings.
As part of Connecting Cumbria's Hidden Coast Programme funded by Coastal Communities Fund and Sellafield Ltd, Copeland Borough Council are working with partners to host a brand new challenge event the length of the borough. Largely following the line of the designated English Coastal Path, the challenge route will stretch from Millom in the south to Whitehaven in the north and will involve a 10K, Marathon and 70K as well as options to walk the entire route. Linking in to the wider programme the coastline will eventually see improvements in infrastructure, new art installations and will enable people to explore Copeland's art, culture and heritage using the natural environnment.
