Event: The Crucible

< Return to calendar
Description
Written at the height of America's Red Scare in the Cold War, The Crucible is Miller's answer to the widespread hysteria and fundamentalist attacks from McCarthyism in the early 1950s. The witch hunts of Salem were an allegory for the communist hunts led by the Committee of Un-American Activities.
This play is profoundly powerful in its message. Enduring, accessible and relevant, a wonderful masterpiece!
