  • Novels That Shaped Our World - May
Throughout 2020 we are taking part in the BBC's year of Novels That Shaped Our World. Mays theme is The Politics Power & Protest. These novels are stories about the ideas, people and power struggles that shaped worlds. Many feature characters with ideas out of step with their societies, from Atticus Finch's attitudes to class and race in To Kill A Mockingbird to Bernard Marx's dissatisfaction with the world order in Brave New World. Come in to see our display and follow along on social media. #MyBookLife

  • Growing Poetry @ BlueJam Arts
Need a boost to get words on the page? Join us at BlueJam Arts for a workshop full of creative inspiration, support, poetry and cake! After Growing Poetry's success in London and Glasgow, we're now bringing our inspiring workshops to Cumbria! We're building a friendly, kind and supportive group of poets at the lovely BlueJam Arts Space in Penrith - a group full of people who need a little boost to get words on the page... which, we think, is almost all of us. Our poetry workshops are ALL about the writing. We aim through our workshops to help you to silence the inner policeman, remove the fear of the blank page and just let the words speak (editing can happen another time!). We never insist on anyone sharing their work - this is very important to us. We pride ourselves on our workshops (which are run by Jessica) being a relaxed space where you can explore your creativity without pressure. The (loose!) theme for this first workshop is: GROW

In this regard, he has toured the UK as Special Guest on tours by artists as varied as Imelda May, Jools Holland, The Proclaimers and Neil Sedaka, and is currently promoting 'Magic Days', his latest album of idiosyncratic original songs. Lukeman is a compelling, dazzling stage performer.
#MyBookLife
