  • Vincent Dance Theatre: Hold Tight

It forms who we are and how we move through the world. Hold Tight explores the impact of separation on family relationships and how abrupt change and adverse childhood experiences impact on young people, their behaviour and their sense of identity, especially children taken into care. With two teenagers and four adults on stage and testimonies from care-experienced young people embedded in the work, VDT's production explores home, family and belonging and considers how, when we long for intimacy and connection, sometimes we just have to Hold Tight.     Explore Monoprinting | Thu 3 Nov to Thu 10 Nov | 7-9pm | £40 (2 wks)| 16 yrs+ | Tutor Karen Lester | Studio 3/Print Room Create painterly monotype prints using different techniques and a printing press. An expressive approach to printmaking, this is an ideal introduction to this wonderful medium. What will the sessions cover and how will it be taught? Working directly onto a plastic sheet, use brushes and rollers to apply printing ink and develop images using lifting techniques, layering and stencils. Starting with black ink before experimenting with colour you can work realistically using a reference image (landscape, still life, figure) or take a more abstract approach based on imagination.

  • Porcelain Christmas decorations workshop
    We will be printing with antique lace, textiles, leaves and lino cuts, impressing them into the porcelain, to make bespoke and unique Christmas decorations or hangings for the window. This workshop is for complete beginners and will give anyone who hasn't worked with clay, a feel for this wonderful material and allow you to experiment with textures. By the end of the workshop you will have at least 5 or 6 beautiful finished pieces for your tutor to fire and finish in a kiln.

What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught? Learn how to cut glass into shapes and assemble the pieces to make attractive and professional-looking Christmas decorations. You will learn how to add sparkle, pattern and bling to make your decorations festive and individual. Students will be shown how to handle and cut glass safely. Demonstrations will be given to the whole group and individual tuition and support will be provided as needed. The students will be offered guidance and support to achieve success in completing their projects. Students can bring their own designs or use the ones provided. Finished pieces will be taken away to be fired and then available to collect from Brewery Arts at a later date.

    Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble was formed by a group of brass playing friends who would meet each other whilst playing for Choral Societies, Operatic Companies, Symphony Orchestras, Brass Bands, Function Bands and Big Bands at various locations around the North of England. The line up of instruments is 2 Trumpets, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba. The quintet has amassed an enormous repertoire of music, from Renaissance Brass Music through Baroque and Classical to upbeat jazz and swing arrangements.

What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught? You will be shown how to make a soft-backed book using simple pamphlet stitch and Japanese stab binding and have the time to experiment individually with making some different versions for yourself with tutor guidance when needed. We will also make a hard-backed book with multiple signatures.   • Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble
    Prince Bishops Brass Ensemble was formed by a group of brass playing friends who would meet each other whilst playing for Choral Societies, Operatic Companies, Symphony Orchestras, Brass Bands, Function Bands and Big Bands at various locations around the North of England. The line up of instruments is 2 Trumpets, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba. The quintet has amassed an enormous repertoire of music, from Renaissance Brass Music through Baroque and Classical to upbeat jazz and swing arrangements.
