  • Discover...Pottery Throwing
    Discover Pottery Throwing | Sat 24 Sep | Sat 22 Oct | 11.15am-12.45pm, 1.30-3pm, 3.30-5pm | £45pp per session | 16+ yrs | Tutor Chris Barnes | Studio 2 This is a fun intensive throwing workshop that will concentrate on improving your throwing technique on the potter's wheel. Suitable for any ability, whether you've never tried it before, or want to hone your existing pottery skills. What will the workshop cover and how will it be taught? With just four students per session, the workshops tutor Chris will give individual tailored help and instruction designed to generally improve throwing technique and focus on areas chosen by each student. Centering clay, improving cylinder height, bowl technique, throwing plates, making galleries and lids, and throwing bellied forms are all possible subjects of focus.

  • Make a Music Track in a Day
    Sat 24 Sep | 11.15am-4pm | FREE | 15-19 yrs | Tutor Tiiva Work with a music producer to write and record your own track or song, exploring beat making, synth programming and lyric writing to create an original piece of electronic music. What will the session cover and how will it be taught? We will interactively explore beat making, synth sounds and recording techniques in Ableton to make a track together. Who is it suitable for? Beginners welcome, but if you have experience with making music then bring your ideas along. What do I need to bring? Just yourself, some lunch and something to make notes on. Refreshments will be provided.

Gather your images and develop them further into your personal art book of discoveries. You will be encouraged to make marks and create textures using drawing materials, and collage, in series of exploratory exercises. Working with a professional music producer will be a fun and creative way to write together. The group will use a digital lab to make their own piece of music and explore the creativity of producing music along the way. What will the session cover and how will it be taught? Learn how to write and record your own songs, produce and make beats, using digital software in a creative space. We'll play around with effects like reverb, beat making and building our own synth sounds, to make a track as our own music group. Learn how to write and produce with your voices, and instruments in an open safe space, sharing ideas and expressing yourself through music making. We'll be writing, improvising and producing using Ableton and GarageBand.
