  • MARA by Dominic Kelly
In this entertaining, unsettling and moving storytelling show, Dominic Kelly conjures a whodunnit with a difference from an almost empty stage. It's 1868 in northern Sweden: 30-year-old Morten, discharged from the army with Malaria, scrapes a living on his croft beside the vast forests. Suddenly he begins to suffer nightmares and disturbing visits in the night. A friend tells him he's being plagued by a Mara - a person who visits another in spirit form while they sleep. To free himself he must find out the Mara's identity - but who is it? MARA is a whodunnit, a love story, a startling evocation of life in the forests of the Taiga, a playful exploration of our relationship with sleep and a rummage in what it means to be awake.
