Cumbria Children in Care Council and Care Leavers Forum
Your Children in Care Council (CICC) is a group of care-experienced young people between 11-18 years old. Those aged 19-21 years can also take part in the CICC as young leaders and mentors. We try our best to represent all of Cumbria's children in care and therefore make a difference to the lives of others. CICC members are vital in making sure that children and young people's voices are heard, especially when it comes to decisions that affect their lives.
Your Care Leavers Forum (CLF) is a group of care-experienced young people aged 16-25 who represent those who are leaving care. We know that this can be a difficult time and our aim is to make sure that care leavers have a voice as they move into independence.
We have lots of different meetings held all across the county. Some are probably close to where you live. Meetings normally take place in the North (Carlisle and Eden), in the South (Barrow and South Lakeland) and in the West (Allerdale and Copeland).
We like to make sure that we take it in turns for County meetings and come to different for each meeting.
Meetings, meetings, meetings - yes we do have quite a few, but we work hard to make sure they are relaxed and friendly whilst also making sure we get the work done! We have achieved so much over the past few years and are really proud of some of the things that we have made happen. We want to be a strong group (a force to be reckoned with) and to do this we also take part in fun activities to get to know each other and work as a team. This can include anything from a pizza, to outdoor pursuits, to bowling or the cinema.
